Katy Perry: 'I'm An American Girl That Had A Dream'

As Katy Perry returns in the U.S. to begin the North American leg of their World Tour prismatic, which is reflecting on the hard work she came here and prepared to return the favor.

"I'm an American girl who had a dream, a dream run, came out of nowhere - and that really is the American Dream," Perry said. "I'm happy to be that example and hopefully inspire others to do that."



the 29-year-old pop star is doing more than inspiring - you are leading by example and lend their fame to support U.S. teachers. Perry helped make a donation Thursday 1 million dollars of Staples Inc. to support the projects of the teachers during the next school year. She will also invite the fans at their concerts to join the "Make Roar Happen" initiative to DonorsChoose.org, where you can select projects to support and as small as $ 1 donations.

"I truly believe that knowledge is power, especially for women," he said in an interview. "I feel that our education makes us safer."

Perry said that although "there arose a great education," she seeks out now, visits to museums and national parks while on the road.

"I thought, instead of buying my way around the world, why not educate my way around the world?" she said. Perry and his team hope to visit every national park nearby, while the North American tour of 46 of the city, which begins June 22 in Raleigh, North Carolina. They also plan to stop at Dollywood in Tennessee.

Perry embraced the "Make Roar Happen" effort because many of their fans are students. But she continues to be a role model to drive their behavior.

"I know that people look at me, but I hope it's more of a matter of inspiration and not like, 'Katy Perry makes these decisions for themselves, so therefore I will make decisions based on the Katy Perry ago 'because that is not how someone should live their lives, "he said. "But I hope you are inspired by my hard work, my ambition and my integrity."
